This vase was made form Milo that I got when In Kauai. It measures 7″ tall and 4.5 wide.
When Ron retired he decided that he was in need of a new challenge as well as a new tool – he bought a lathe! This little fellow has travelled a great distance to get here. It comes to us from the forests of Australia. I purchased the burl from John at Woodchuckers in Weston Ontario. The colours a very nice and it has a great feel to it. The bowl is 3″ by 5″. With this wood you have…
Ambrosia Maple, is maple that has been drawn on by a little bettle. It does create some very interesting art work, unfortunately when it has finished the tree usually dies. I got this piece north of Kingston. The bowl is 8 1/2″ by 3 and will grace any table. The art work is much better…
This burl bowl was a challenge to turn as the top was anything but even. It is rather thick so that I could save some of the bark. It has some nice figure near the bottom right. Not a burls have the great figure but mother nature does her best. This one is 10″ by…
This piece of spruce burl was made into a shallow dish that is 12″ by 2″. The creation, when I was finished looked to me just like an artist’s palette , hence the name. The Chatoyance (changing colour of the grain) has to be seen in person. It is a really amazing piece of wood….
An elegant little vase made from a spruce burl with accents of purple heart and cocobolo woods. The colours re much better in real life than the picture shows. It is 7 1/2″ tall and about 3″ near the base.

This vase was created from a piece of Juniper that we got from a friends driveway widening project. The colour and aroma of the wood is great. The photo doesn’t get the real colour. Each piece of the tree had long cracks and these were filled with ca glue and shavings from the turning. So far…
